Hello again! I find myself writing yet another post on this warm, July evening. Although I wouldn’t really call it a ‘post’, it’s more like an ‘opportunity’  Basically, I’m going to briefly write about a ‘project’ that libertywabi proposed to me and that I fully endorse! I’d like to invite you to this initiative in order to create a more useful learning environment for us all. So please continue reading, even if you’re not interested.

In simple terms, the idea is for a group of bloggers to write a post based on the same topic every so often (I was thinking maybe once a month) so that we can have a collection of different perspectives on the same subject – I, personally, think that this has immense educational value!

However, it’s not only about education, it’s also about interaction and socialisation with other bloggers; by this, I mean that if you decide to join us on this ‘project’, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with a diverse set of people whom you may not usually come into contact with in your everyday life. Essentially, I see it as a way of ‘broadening your horizons’ and learning from other people – you can’t go wrong here!

To add, I wouldn’t say that it’s a huge commitment if you’re worried about sticking to deadlines, it’s just a bit of fun! Also, we haven’t really got a solid plan on how we’re organising this or anything so if you’re keen to get on board then leave a comment below, or drop me an email with your suggestions. Thanks for your time and I hope you’re convinced!

    1. That’s great! I’ll email you with some information very soon. In the meantime, try to get as many people aware of the project as possible! Thanks for taking an interest!

    1. Yes, of course we’d have you! Anyone is welcome to join. In order to arrange further details about the project, I think I’ll be contacting the group by email if that’s ok with you? Also, please feel free to advertise this idea to your followers if you feel they’d be keen to join us! Thanks.

    1. Thanks for taking an interest. We haven’t really decided, or even talked about, the sorts of topics that the posts will be based on. However, I assume that the topics would be highly varied and open for interpretation for each blogger. For example, if the topic was autonomous vehicles, then an art blogger could create some artwork based on this, or an economics blogger could write about the economics of it, or a food blogger could write about how this impacts the way we eat – these are just some ideas but you’re really free to do whatever you want! Let me know if you’re still interested to join.

      1. Sorry, I don’t really understand what you mean by an all or nothing proposition, in the context of this project. If you could explain this I would be better equipped to reply to your comment – thanks.

      2. Oh, thanks for clarifying! I understand what you mean now – I’m totally ok with people picking and choosing which months they’d like to write a post on. However, it would be helpful if you could write posts at least 60-70% of the time to ensure that there is a variety of different posts available to read at any time. In addition, the topics are supposed to be pretty vague and ambiguous so that you’re able to adapt it to the theme of your blog.

      3. Thank you so much for the helpful response! I was away for a bit and no access to the internet so I apologize for the delayed response. This sounds very much like something I would be interested in, and if you are able to provide further information or details when able I would appreciate it 🙂

      4. No problem! I’ll send you the details right away – although, I don’t think I have your email address so please could you give that to me whenever you get the time. Thanks!

    1. Cool! I love philosophy actually, so it would be great to read your views on different topics. I’ll probably be contacting you via email about the project if that’s ok. So, if you have any suggestions regarding how to get this started, drop me an email! Also, I would appreciate it if you could share this idea with your followers if you think they’d be interested in joining us. Thanks for taking part!

    1. That’s great! I’ll be contacting you via email for more specific information about the project once I get enough people willing to participate. If you have any more ideas before then, drop me an email with your suggestions. Also, don’t forget to promote this initiative to your followers as I’m sure some of them could be interested too! Thanks!

  1. Here’s my pitch for the blog contribution project. I can write a short post on being stoically calm during the hardship of life and learning to understand how power works in human relationships.

I’ll finish this post – probably 500-1000 words and email you asap whenever the deadline for our posts must arrive. I hope we honestly can all work and write some amazing articles from this idea sharing opportunity. If you need anything feel free to email me yibowangyw(dotgmail.com -yours, yibo

    1. Thanks so much for the enthusiasm Yibo! Your idea is great, however, I think that in order to make the topic more flexible for other bloggers to write about, it needs to be more ambiguous. Is the topic of ‘hardship’ in general is what you were suggesting? Regardless, I’m thrilled that you’ve decided to participate as I love reading your posts!

      1. That’s brilliant – I’ll be in touch with you via email about the first assignment which will probably be on one of the topics you’ve suggested.

    1. Awesome! I’m contacting everyone via email so if you could give me your email address that would be great. Thank you so much for taking part and let me know of any suggestions/ideas you may have!

  2. Hi Guntash.
It looks as though you are getting some good suggestions here and some interest for the project.

I am going to make a very simple suggestion myself based on a post i have just written, very simple subject but one which has lots of angles and meanings.

    ‘The Knife’

    1. This is all down to you Steve! You’re the one who approached me with this concept so I’m extremely grateful as I think your idea is brilliant. I feel privileged to help you implement your idea and see it in practice.

Your suggestion of ‘The Knife’ sounds pretty good to me! I’ll note it down in the extensive topic list I currently have (don’t worry, I’ll make sure it’s near the top of the list!)

    1. Yes, everyone’s welcome to join no matter the level of experience you have with blogging! I’m only a couple of months into blogging myself so I’d still say that this is pretty new to me.

Anyway, I checked out your blog and your archives date back to July 2014! It seems like you’ve been on this platform long before I have – maybe I’ve misinterpreted the information though.

Lastly, I need to quickly ask you to provide me with your email address so that I can come into contact with you regarding this project. You can either contact me privately via the contact form that’s on my blog, or you can simply reply to this comment with your email address – whatever you’re most comfortable with works for me.

    1. That would be great! I’m actually learning French (I’ve been learning it for a few years) so it would be interesting for you to maybe write a few posts, or extracts of posts, in french if you want?

Else, you can write completely in English as I’d be happy to help you out if you want some assistance. Anyway, your English seems pretty good!

Please could you contact me with your email address by filling out my contact form on this blog. I need it to get in touch with you regarding the project – thanks!

  3. I’d be happy to contribute. I’ve been on two group blogs in the past, both of which sorta faded away. A variety of opinions and expertise makes things interesting so long as discussion doesn’t devolve into a series of gotchas or proving arguments to enhance the egos of those involved. Some of that is inevitable if discussion is to be more than bland relativism, of course.

WordPress allows blog owners/administrators to give other WordPress bloggers varying levels of access, so that part is easy.

My suggestion is the formulate a few loose guidelines, keep questions broad to allow individual treatments, and reserve the right to moderate (e.g., approve/disapprove posts and delete comments if needed should things get too weird). I typically limit myself to 3 or 4 paragraphs per post and 1 or 2 per comment and try to write in the third person with scrupulously correct grammar.

    1. Thanks for the suggestions and advice!

After reading your comment I’ve decided to start another WordPress website specifically dedicated to this project because this is probably the best way forward – I initially had an alternate idea, but it seems less cohesive and unified so it’s been scrapped.

In addition, I’m really committed to this project and collaborative effort as I believe that it has the potential to be a truly interesting and diverse collection of views/ideas; so I hope it doesn’t fade away as the previous ‘group blogs’ you’ve participated in have. I know it can go a long way!

Since you have experience with these types of things, maybe you could help me with the guidelines you mention should be in place for this blog. If you could email me via the contact form provided, I would be able to get in touch with you regarding more specific advice, only if you’re willing of course.

      Thanks again,

    1. Sure, you can join in! I’ll send you a couple of emails which I’ve already sent to the other participants so you can catch up – don’t worry, there isn’t too much for you to do at this stage though. Thanks for showing an interest. 🙂
